Reminder to TVHS Families: Thursday, 10/9, and Friday, 10/10, are early release days at 11:15 am. Parent-teacher conferences will be held in the teacher's classrooms; no appointments needed.

Thursday: 12-4 pm and 5-7 pm; Friday: 12-3 pm

🚓 Our CTE Law & Public Safety program prepares students for careers in criminal justice, fire services, emergency response, and more. Students gain hands-on experience with forensic science, investigations, and public safety procedures while building teamwork and leadership skills. With opportunities to earn certifications and connect with industry professionals, this program creates a strong pathway to careers or further education in law enforcement and public safety.

👶 TVHS CTE Early Childhood Education program prepares students to make a difference in the lives of young children! Students gain hands-on experience working with kids, learn classroom management and child development skills, and even earn industry certifications—building a strong foundation for careers or further education in teaching and childcare.

Did you know that Tonopah Valley High School uses short music clips as a one-minute warning before the start of each class period? Each day, there are 8 song clips that all follow a certain theme or genre. The themes change with each new semester. Students and teachers are invited to submit their guesses as to what those themes and genres are. Today, we congratulated our first-semester teacher winner, Mr. Brockman!

On Sept 18th, our CTE Law & Public Safety Level II students had the unique opportunity to tour the Property and Evidence Section of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. While photos were not permitted inside the facility, the experience was both eye-opening and highly educational.

During the visit, students were able to see firsthand the scope and seriousness of evidence handled by law enforcement. They were shown over 850,000 fentanyl pills seized in the county, valued at approximately $1.6 million, and learned about the extreme dangers associated with the drug. They also observed cocaine and discussed how fentanyl is often laced into this illegal substance, making it even deadlier. Students were further introduced to other contraband, including candy infused with THC, and a variety of illegal weapons, such as ghost guns, antique firearms, and even a seized rocket launcher.

In addition, the group was exposed to actual evidence from active homicide investigations, gaining an appreciation for the sensitive and crucial nature of proper evidence handling. The importance of chain of custody procedures was emphasized, highlighting how each step in evidence collection, documentation, and preservation plays a vital role in ensuring justice is served.

This experience provided students not only with valuable technical knowledge aligned with their Law & Public Safety studies but also with a sobering perspective on the realities of crime and public safety in our communities.

Mr. Albeza’s Pre-Calculus class put a creative spin on Quiz, Quiz, Trade! Students reviewed key topics including: • Domain and Range of a Function • Average Rate of Change Over an Interval • Quadratic, Square Root, and Rational Functions After trading problems and solutions, each student signed the final paper they held—and that paper determined their new seat! It’s clear that cooperative learning is contagious at TVHS, and we love seeing our students engaged, collaborating, and having fun while tackling challenging math concepts. ❤️🖤 #WeRiseTogether #TVHS #CooperativeLearning #PreCalculus

TVHS students participated in the Arizona Diamondbacks FUTURESHAPER Robotics Competition sponsored by Honeywell today. After a record setting day, the team walked away with a second place trophy and a check for $1500 towards their robotics program. Congratulations and well done for all the hard work.

Before digging into our benchmark data, our staff kicked things off with a lively round of Name That Song, facilitated by our wonderful instructional coach, Ms. Liz Russell! 🎤🎶 Congratulations to our CTE department for taking the win! 🏆 After the game, teachers revisited types of exams and explored the powerful resources within our testing platform. These tools will help us identify gaps and guide instruction so we can continue supporting every student’s growth. From digital illustration to photo editing and layout design, students build real-world skills, create professional portfolios, and even earn industry certifications—preparing them for jobs or further education in the design field.
